One of the best options for those are used to the real hardware.
I used the real SSL console before and this set of plugins are great choice for me. I love them and use them.

Great plugins but bad business on UAD behalf
The plugins are great. All their plugins are great, but we were told at the beginning of the creation of native plugins as long as we owned the dsp versions we would own the native if they ever were to come out with them. I have nothing against uad but when they start changing policies because they realize they’ve made business mistakes that could cost them, it has you wondering are their anymore lies to be told regarding purchasing their product. First they add a subscription making it easier to purchase the same plugins we’ve paid hundreds of dollars for, just to make them affordable for people who never paid for the dsp versions. Then we have to pay more money for the same exact plugin that we’ve already purchased? That’s bad business, and I’ll never spend hundreds of dollars from

Worth the wait for Native
Having 14 DSP’s in total spread across an Apollo and two Satellites I was still limited to a relatively small number of instances that I could run - not anymore, on my M1 Max Mac Studio, I’ve literally put the native plugin on every audio channel in Pro Tools (at least 16 instances) and along with the other UAD Native plugins I’ll have in the session (Distressor, LA-2A, 1176, EMT140, Sunset Studio and more) I’m still only hitting around 65% CPU.
Prior to the native versions, I had to compromise - and it is a compromise - by using other vendors emulations which quite frankly don’t compare (not naming names, but one of them does charge for an update plan which you can choose not to take up, but you wonder sometimes what are you getting for your money).
Ok, let’s address the elephant in the room - existing DSP owners of the original plugin.
I was expecting this to appear in my UA Connect itinerary as with previous plugins , but adding in external sidechain functionality is not a simple case of adding a button to the UI, so $9.99 is a small price to pay for a feature that works flawlessly.
Bottom line, and this is what it boils down to, it is hands down the best sounding SSL emulation I’ve used, and having an Apollo also allows you to record using the preamps.s. ermolaev

The best hands down
Beats all other SSl chanel and bus comp manufacturers offerings hands down. Why? It leaves the integrity of your signal alone, but It can be clean or driven, smooth or smacking. You are always adding something good with these. It sounds so much closer to a hardware sound than others. It sounds tight and focused. Other offerings sound like dirty cardboard chab and just end up sounding distorted and brittle and cold. The UAD plugs allow me to get the sound in my head quicker and with fewer plugins per channel. Only takes seconds now to get a source sitting in the mix as opposed to minutes of loading up various eqs, compressors, saturators etc from other manufacturers to get worse results. Dang UAD I'm glad these are native now. Where have you been all my life. Seriously if you are considering other option I wouldn't waste the time. Wait for a big special and get these. I am in no way affiliated with UAD. Just a stoked user. Instance uses 9 to 13% cpu on my ryzen 5 3600. I can easily run all the uad plugs I need native to finish mixes. Happy mixing! I'm in love. Especially with the ability to drive the mic pre transformer AND output fader, trim the digital out on rock drums for that delicious sound.

The Greatest of All Time
I owned Brainworx SSL 4000 E Console. I owned Waves SSL E Channel Strip. I also owned Waves CLA Mixhub and Waves SSL EV2. I have used Solid State Logic's channel strips and Slate Digital VMR.

Better than SSL
In comparison with the SSL Plugin version, very good. How can a 3rd party emulation be better than the Original manufacturer? I cancelled my SSL subscription finally because all the Plugins sounds so bad, and, since I listen to the UA version, yes nearly perfect.
