Great Upgrade
I've been thinking for a long time about getting an Apollo Twin. After years of using my old interface I joined the UAD team. So far I am very happy with my Apollo Twin QUAD, especially with the possibility of recording in real time and being able to use the DSP for its wonderful plugins. As a critic I think that many plugins consume too much DSP, because in spite of having a QUAD many times it gets complicated. Beyond that I love my new product

Super Satisfied With It!
The only thing I would prefer, is a little marking showing that the UA plug-in is the demo version, when browsing for plug-ins. The reason behind this: I prefer to check the full versions first which are great, then once I'm done, the demo versions, should I have cash.

not compatible with new Mac OS??
not compatible with new Mac OS?? yes you can use old OS version but that limits other uses of the computer where Catalina excels at. Long story short, I was excited to set this up on my new MacBook pro with Catalina and what a mess. I gave 4 star because I believe the hardware is likely excellent; just need faster movement on compatibility. $150 Audio interfaces by other brands were compatible almost immediately. Was not a good first experience with UA and update to date Apple OS.

Put a cable in and get a 5th star!
Cons...no thunderbolt cable included and console itself runs really hot..heard its normal just doesnt feel right..last complaint would be that mk2 thunderbolt 2 should have been thunderbolt 3 ...mk2 came out end of 2017 I guess and even back then TB2 was still pretty dated...I think 2014 was the last host I remember having a tb2 port..if the cable was included It probably wouldn't be such a issue but needing too spend almost 100 bucks extra for cable and dongle...just too have the new twin x too drop without any real discounts on mk2 b4..
Pros...reputation, sound quality..durable build quality...AND so far I'm likeing the included UAD software...
@UAD so I bought my mk2 over a summer promo should have received a certain plugin package..since it took me a while too figure what I was going to upgrade too..I wasnt able too use AND register until just the other day...but I ended up getting a newer promo plugin package instead of the one I orginally Had purchased..

Now i understand why the two preamps are as expensive as my eight preamps
At first i was i little bit skeptic to the "all in one" solution that this box offers. I have been using my Apollo Twin MKII quad for about a month now and i stand corrected. It is the best audio interface i have ever used! The frequency response is ridiculously great and the preamps blows my mind. The unit is perfect for my purposes as a songwriter. I am giving the concept 4 stars out of 5 because of the prices if you want to buy any new plugins. They are great but way to expensive regarding to the price of the unit. Also because you dont get a thunderbolt cable when you buy the unit. Other than that its a 5 star product. Now i understand why the two UA preamps are as expensive as my eight "other brand" preamps

Killer. But not enough processing power...
There’s reason these are hailed as the best interfaces out there.
However, after buying the Duo, I really wish I would’ve gone for the Quad instead.
I rationalized it, figuring upgrading with an Octo Satellite later would be the better cost-value. Though when it came to actually playing around and seeing how much power some of the plugins actually use... damn. Even despite seeing the plugin instance chart before, it still comes as a shock at times when I can’t even run two plugins such as a Fender Tweed and BX20 spring reverb at the same time.
Ah well, gotta live with the consequence of my choices and make some workflow adjustments. More committing (and bouncing) tracks for sure - which maybe isn’t an entirely bad thing at times.
Nonetheless, it’s undoubtedly great gear and the UAD plugins are superb. So, will certainly only be a matter of time (and capital) until upgrading with the Satellite to multiply power...

The review of the bad side
It's good because of UAD pluggin and excellent hardware performance, I don't need to talk too much about this.
But they really need to improve DSP usage on giant emulatuon. Giant emulation sounds good because of complet emulate the fundamental electronic component on the actual gear, but customer does care that, they only care about sound and how much instance they can run simultaneously on the hardware.
Also they need to develope some basic tool such as noise gate, filter, etc. It just doesn't exist, when I first time realized that I was shock by the way, this is the best way to save DSP to do the minor thing sometime.
Also they might need to think about a better idea to cool down the apollo twin, it runs hot. The whole unit is like a heat sink, even though it won't affect its life time and running performance, but customer don't know that, and it will usually lead them to unnesseary annoying.

Amazing Interface
I've had no problems with it so far! It's a great interface. The only thing I have noticed is that it gets VERY hot really quickly. After about 20 - 30 mins of it being on, it's already hot. Not sure if this is normal. Just a little bit worrying! Apart from that, no issues :)

Refreshing and Inspireing
Out of the Box running win10 using thunderbolt..Perfect. The ability to have realtime effects and the option to record them ! Jaw dropping effects and processing . Interfaced with my M-Audio firewire 410 for midi runs perfect . Optical out of the firewire to Mkll is killer for recording my samples. This is only going to get better. Amazing Clean Sound from the Apollo Twin
Wish I would’ve got one sooner. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the lack of a solid sounding high gain plugins for electric guitar. Otherwise, this is an outstanding audio interface.

the sound is amazing and the plugin too i use with vox box and teletronics..... with lexicon? do you need more? i don't think so. the only "bad" thing is the price but if you want quality you have to pay it. i would like to buy the quad but is expensive but anyway i am very satisfated.

Ja, der Preis ist vielleicht nicht günstig aber ich bin absolut zufrieden was Klangqualität und handling angeht. Und mein Problem mit Bildschirm Aufnahme ohne Ton habe ich jetzt auch nicht mehr! Danke für dieses tolle Produkt! *thumpsup*
Ich bin zufrieden damit und jeder sollte selber entscheiden ob das was für ihn ist oder nicht!
Ein Stern Abzug für den Preis und die etwas mühselige Installation!

Feels very inuitive and I am excited to explore further. Little concerned with the amount of heat generated off this little puppy, but everything has been ship shape. Thanks UAD!
