Shines with unison
First of all, I really like how unison interact with the preamp. This is a very warm and detailed emulation. Pair it with a good compresor on insert and you have the best channel strip ever!

Don't Let this be the "EQ that got away"
I recently got into the UAD world after years of using hardware and the "other guys" plug ins. I bought the 3 plug in package and agonized over the tube tech eq... I eventually chose the Neve 88rs, Fairchild collection, and the Ampex ATR but I had my eye on the tube tech (and still do) but then... The Neve products went on sale... so I demo'ed this 1081 and BOOM! its has so much character its slick and smooth if you need it to be on the master buss or aggressive and punchy if you want to slap it on a kick drum, try it, dial it in on snare and see what happens. Got of vocal track that needs something? It needs a 1081. I Super vibe like the tube tech just a different order of harmonics. I love this thing.(and I'm still buying that tube tech)

The game changer
This thing is litteraly a game changer. I use to add several plugins to get a warm and thick sound. Now I almost evything piece of gear I need all in one modelized box, and it just sounds incredible. Heads up for the "MIC" section, and its sweet distorsion when adding gain.

Saturation is out of this world
Even something as simple as switching to Mic level with this plugin to get that console saturation sound does wonders to class up any recording. Highly recommend.

Neve88RS channel strip collection awesomeness
I've been using a Neve VRP Legend recently...however, in the peace and quiet of my own home studio without all the air conditioning noise and the other physical challenges presented by a commercial studio (not to mention the cost) i much prefer using this channel strip in unison mode with my Apollo....it sounds awesome...and it's so easy to use.

Excellent plugin but high DSP usage
This is an excellent plugin. One of UAs best work to date. The input stage is clean, accurate and warm. Great sounding filters and EQ. Perfectly usable compressor and gate. All in all it sounds fantastic, and there is very little that can match it in terms of quality.

Favorite Mic Pre
Bought my first Apollo and dove in demoing all available plugs. This was an instant winner. The Pre with Neve EQ made every mic sound amazing. This is great to use in UNISON on the way in, if you just want some Neve EQ in a mix use the 1073SE Legacy that comes with the bundle and save DSP. UA Prices on plug-ins in the store will drop based on what you already own, causing some confusion. UA should fix this and just show "PURCHASED" instead of the reduced price or "UPGRADE" instead of buy now to minimize some of these bad reviews on an excellent plug-in.

Can't record anything without it anymore!
It's a perfect reproduction of the original neve 1073 preamp! It really does the job, making my recordings sound so much better!! I use it on everything and it's like having the perfect preamp! I'm using it with my Apollo Twin and I couldn't be happier!

A more flexible 1073
The 1081 is a very important part of my plugin folder. Its flexibility is something which can only be described as a logical continuation of the 1073 and it delivers on that tenfold. The HP and LP filters are very gentle and each band responds realistically. Its low DSP consumption makes it useful in large sessions that need a Neve sound in bulk. Sounds great on just about everything you put it on!

"That" sound
You can't really go wrong with a sound as ubiquitous as Neve. This lovely thing has quickly become my go to tracking preamp/EQ and very rarely do I find myself wanting much past what it puts out. Vocals really shine through the 1073. Clarity remains a constant even at higher, more aggressive settings. I find myself using it most with the Apollo and Unison, recording the effect directly to the track. If you don't own a UA interface, you may need to be a bit more DSP conscious while mixing. That said, this plugin will make a great addition to anyone's toolset. I never begin a session without it.

this is the best all around plugin ua has to offer in my opinion. I hate that now it's 99 dollars tho. Should've waited but i couldn't because my gas kicked in. I guess that's a testament to how good it sounds....

Great tone shaping flexibilty
I was using the API Vision channel strip on the unison preamp technology on my 3 Apollos for about a year before I purchased this. I have to say, I think for now this 88RS channel strip is my favorite for mixing down my entire sessions thru a Dangerous 2Bus-lt summing mixer which is fed into a stereo unison preamp input. What I really like about this channel strip is the parametric EQ. That is very crucial to me, especially with summing down entire sessions to a stereo mix. The dynamics section can be very subtle and musical, or you can do some very intense compression and gating. The side-chain option can have very effective results, such as a de-esser. I feel like this channel strip is warmer than the API Vision Channel Strip, and the SSL

My favorite Unison device.
Works great as a virtual preamp. The gate function is better than the already impressive API Vision. I can get a crisp and clear male or female vocal signal in a untreated room. This was worth the money for me.
