What can I say that's not already been said . . . .
This is a weird plug in, I use it on a final mix, at the mastering stage, simply put it makes things sound better (I normally choose a preset and work from there) but I can't really say why, it's not like I've suddenly got a bigger bass, shimmering highs or more clarity, I can't really put my finger on it, but it's nothing stunning or immediately impressive, it's just that after you've got it on your track, the track sounds a little less 'quality' when you switch it off . . . . I'd love to say it does something specific like 'tighten' bass, make mids more punchy or adds 'air' to the high end, but you can do that stuff with basic (DAW built in) EQs, the Manley just seems to add a little bit of goodness I can't put my finger on.

UAD Manley EQ
Possibly one of the nicest EQ's I've ever worked with. I master a lot of dance music and this is now my go-to tool for enhancing punch and bass. It's particularly good at enhancing 44hz, 2khz and 5khz and does this very subtly without adding nasty artefacts to the source material. It's also VERY close to the real hardware. I'm not so bothered about this being so processor hungry as I only use it for mastering, but if you're looking to use more than one instance of this then be sure to get a bigger UAD card.

I love the Manley EQ for mastering, especially the low end but I like to read DBs added or subtracted. It'll be great to have that on the UAD version. For smooth but heavy low end and mid rage Manley EQ tops them all.

I was so amazed after few tweaks it's just pure perfection and "lost puzzle" in my project studio.
Now I got it :)
This EQ is one of these plugins you should get the UAD.
If you have money for that and you thinking about buying this plug.. Don't waste your time. BUY IT!!!

Seriously though, wow! I demoed this out of curiousity when trying to decide how to use my "custom bundle" upgrade offer that come with the Apollo. I really didn't expect to be blown away by an EQ plugin but... I was wrong and after hearing what is possible when putting this on your stereo mix bus, there was no turning back!
The thing I love about it is that it responds differently and, I think, more intuitively than every other EQ I've used. I like to mix jazz. The MMP allows you to bump up the bass in a tight, non-boomy way, cut out some low-mid mushiness without tearing out the heart of the track, bring out some life and sparkle in the cymbals around 6k without ruining the attack of the other instruments, all the settings sound great.

Schön einzusetzen, universal auf alle Instrumente oder der Stimme. Als Resultat erhält der User eine dezente Seligkeit auf dem Signal. Allerdings sehr Ressourcenhungrig!

If Only We Had a "Lite" Version!
I'd rate this 5 stars if I could use more than a few instances of it. Everything you want from a Manley, but it will suck the DSP life right out of you.
You gave us a "Mastering" addition, why not a "Lite" addition next?

Sound wise its very good but on the downside it uses so much dsp which makes it hard to put in a chain many times.

First hated, Now I LOVE
When I first started this plug, I will be honest and didn't really understand how to use it properly. I would first start messing with the presets to see all the techniques they used and then fiddle around with it. Once you understand what each knob's function and how it effects the sonic sound, you will then see the beauty of this plug in. IT emphasize without coloring the sound. It could be from a small boost/cut to a huge boost/cut and almost always sound very natural, unless you over use it. Used this on Vocals, acoustic guitar, and master buss and was very satsified with it.

Im in love with this plugin, is much better than other Manley passive EQ emulations in the market. This Eq have a sweet and musical sounding feeling, its amazing, i recommend totally.

This is an AMAZING EQ. Easily in my top 3. I use this on every mix. There are 2 versions, the regular and the master buss version. Beware, both versions are fairly intensive on the DSP so use with care...be very deliberate about using it. There really is no downside to this plugin, when used correctly it makes things sound AMAZING. Just get it!

I used to work in a tracking room who had two mono Manley 'pultec type' eqs and also two Pultec eqp-1a3s. Have to say I wasn't that keen on them (Manleys) but totally fell in love with the Pultecs. The Manleys just didn't do the trick with bass, vox, 2 buss in a way the Pultec really excelled. I got some nice results with the Manleys though: great mid-frequency boost for electric gtrs, nice to add some top (quite harsh) to percussion tracks to really cut through...
