The UAD Ampex is truely and just the best sounding of all master tape emus i tried and worked with in the past - including Waves, Slate and how they all call all. If you have the chance - A/B it (reading the manual is very inspiring too, while i'm usually hate manuals) and you definitely WILL buy it

Very nice tape emulation!
Well, I really like it a lot. Already had the Slate Digital VTM and Waves KMT and I have to say the UA Ampex takes the crown from the VTM (except for the multi instance grouping function of VTM). I mostly use it in slow tape speeds due to preferring the effects in the lower frequency range and I love how it glues the whole mix together. Excellent sounding plug-in!

Wow!
I just got an apollo twin and a sweet ass mic. I am a complete rookie when it comes to recording and mixing. Though this plug makes everything sound better. Like everything! I usually put it on my output channel and crank that baby up. Sounds like baby Jesus riding a badass unicorn rhino, ejaculating in your ears and whispering "everything is cool man" with his honey lips. Yes, I do recommend this product.

My first review... not because I've never loved a UAD plug in before, but because this one turned a GM midi mastering job into a 'record' ... also just the slightest touch of Telectronix and it was alive. Like jumping out of the speakers alive!!

I've used other tape sims in the past so was reluctant to try this one thinking it wasn't necessary. But wow, this really does bring something to the table the others don't. It's 'pushy' when I want it to be and gives a nice warmth where needed. Lots of options too!

Ampex ATR-102 and my sound go up to next level!!!

I made house music, deep, tech and with this stuff my sound stay more louder and clearer! So if you don't understand how it work you must try (you can found more program for different style of music) Iit's not cheap but it is much cheaper than analog machines but with the same quality))

Great for Apollo Tracking
I like using the Studer and a channel strip to "print to tape" with my Apollo. The Studer adds a nice glue to things. I especially like it for gluing drums together, and it adds some nice tape compression, reducing the need for compressors and EQ later.

I used it for my mastering before to try my track in Clubs, it add a nice polish some warmth, depth and take the last hashness to make your track rounded.
I own the wave kramer tape and tried the other wave but there is nothing compare to what the Ampex bring to your track.
I regretted that I haven't bought it earlier with my first UAD bundle when I bought my apollo. I followed a friend advice and got the Fatso, lexicon, Manley, Ocean Way Studios, BX2 v2 eq, and the SPL vitalizer.
If you are in the same situation just get the Ampex instead of the Vitalizer !!!

Golden Bundle...
I´ve worked with the Studer in the 90, and i´ve made many records that were recorded by the studer and goes mastered to Ampex and lately to DAT, and i´ve always remember how sweet and warm was the sound recorded in those machines. Thanks to UA i can have the privilege to put a taste of this machines in some tracks (Bass, drums, Vocals, guitars, etc..), and it makes all the diference to me. It just help glue it all together and put the instruments in the right place. I recommend...Congratulations UA !

A Warm Blanket
I was doing a mix for someone in LA and out of the few comments I received back, one was warm up the mix a little. I went through the various tape and "warmth" plugs in my collection but nothing did the trick. Having performed proper EQ adjustments throughout the mix, I still needed one final element. I decided to buy the ATR-102 and place it on my mix bus. It happened to be the missing link. Having a general knowledge of tape and after some in depth tweaking, I was able add the final touch of warmth to the mix. The ATR-102 was like a nice blanket the covered the overall mix. My advice to those using this is READ the manual. There are some useful tips, techniques, and essential tape knowledge that is key to using this plugin to its fullest.
