Universal Audio Apollo Twin Wins Best in Show & 32nd Annual TEC Award at NAMM 2017

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA • February 8, 2017 — Universal Audio, a leading manufacturer of professional audio recording hardware and software, is proud to announce that Apollo Twin MkII was awarded Best in Show at the 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. In addition, Apollo Twin USB won a 32nd Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Award in the Computer Audio Hardware category.

Apollo Twin MkII Wins Best in Show for NAMM 2017

The Best in Show NAMM U Breakfast Session took place Sunday, January 22nd with six panelists of music retail experts representing Sam Ash Music, Quinlan & Fabish, Rhythm Traders, Guitar Center, Alto Music, and Beacock Music. They each revealed their picks from the show while offering hands-on demos to explain why these products and services will make a big impact with customers worldwide.

Apollo Twin MkII, announced January 19, 2017 at NAMM, is the latest addition to the Apollo family, offering a ground-up redesign of the most successful professional desktop interface ever for Mac and Windows. Apollo Twin features two Unison-enabled mic preamps, letting you track with realtime processing through exacting mic preamp and guitar emulations from Neve, API, Fender, Manley, and more. In addition, the new Apollo Twin MkII offers improved monitor functionality with Mute, DIM, Mono, and ALT speaker switching, plus a built-in routable talkback microphone.

Apollo Twin USB Wins Prestigious TEC Award

Winning the Computer Audio Hardware category, Apollo Twin USB was released in September 2015 and is an industry leader in the desktop audio interface category.

The TEC Awards were established in 1985 to honor outstanding achievement in professional audio production and product innovation. Hundreds of entries for nomination were reviewed and voted upon by an extensive panel of veteran sound and music industry professionals in the U.S. and abroad. Online subscribers to Mix, Pro Sound News, Pro Audio Review, Electronic Musician, and members of professional audio and sound production organizations determined winners through private online voting.

"Universal Audio is honored to receive this year’s TEC Award and thrilled by Apollo Twin MkII’s selection as Best in Show. Both the Apollo Twin MkII and Apollo Twin USB were significant projects requiring extensive teamwork and craftsmanship on both the hardware and software fronts. We truly appreciate the recognition," says Bill Putnam Jr., CEO and founder of Universal Audio.

Universal Audio’s Apollo 8p rackmount audio interface and Teletronix LA-2A Classic Limiting Amplifier also received accolades from readers of Sound on Sound Magazine, winning coveted SOS Reader’s Choice Awards.
