Tweed Tube Tones in a Box

Universal Audio’s Woodrow ’55 perfectly captures the warm tube-style breakup tones of the king of ’50s tweed amplifiers! This pedal is an authentic end-to-end emulation of the classic ’50s 1 x 12-inch combo, sporting three different boost types to push the Woodrow ’55 into that throaty growl that defined rock ‘n’ roll overdrive tone for decades. Guitarists at Sweetwater are amazed at how closely the Woodrow ’55 re-creates the sound of a hot tube amp recorded in a live room, and this lifelike quality comes courtesy of UA’s incredible mic, cab, and Dynamic Room Modeling technology. What's more, each pedal in the UAFX series allows you to bypass your amplifier's preamp when the pedal is engaged via the special "4-cable" mode, supercharging your amp with two additional channels. If you’re looking for even greater control, the Woodrow ’55 sports Bluetooth compatibility so you can connect to Universal Audio’s UAFX app for enhanced editing, access to artist presets, and more!

A trio of distinct amp styles

Woodrow ’55 comes loaded with three different boosts to push your sound into overdrive — from a raunchy ’50s-style wail to more modern, articulate tones.

Stock: In this mode, the boost is pure clean gain without any added distortion. When you start cranking the knob, the midrange and treble response kick in, with a reduced bass to prevent flubbing.

KP-3K: If you’re after clarity and high-end detail, this one’s for you! This boost brightens up your tone by borrowing the preamp design from a famous ’80s digital delay pedal.

EP-III: Thick, saturated, and warm — how does that sound? The EP-III boost is based on the tape echo of the same name, with plenty of gain and color on tap to add a delightfully vintage character to your tone.

Switch up your speakers

Part of the Woodrow ’55’s magic is found in the dead-on speaker/cab emulations, bolstered by Universal Audio’s Dynamic Room Modeling technology. The Woodrow ’55 comes loaded with three cab/mic/speaker settings, seamlessly matched to the three different amplifier modes. Guitarists looking to cover a wide sonic range will love experimenting with the different speaker and amp pairings; plus, when registering the Woodrow ’55 with Universal Audio, you get three more free cab sims to play with!

4-cable mode offers powerful channel switching

Each pedal in Universal Audio’s UAFX series features a special “4-cable” mode accessible via the UAFX Control app, allowing you to bypass your amp’s preamp when the pedal is engaged for incredibly realistic tube-style tones. By hooking your pedal up to both your effects loop send/return and the front of amp input, you can instantly switch between your amp’s stock tone and your UAFX pedal routed straight into the power amp, effectively adding two extra channels to your amplifier. What’s more, Universal Audio designed this feature with multiple pedal setups in mind — you can connect any number of UAFX pedals in this configuration for multi-channel madness!

More control with the UAFX app

Looking for greater control over your tone? The Woodrow '55 is Bluetooth compatible to pair with Universal Audio’s powerful UAFX app. In addition to giving you greatly enhanced editing options, UAFX also includes access to artist tones, custom presets, and more!

Crazy Good!

Truly a step above in a world super saturated with Fx pedals. UA killed it on the Woodrow! Don Felder in a box along with countless others. With all of the speaker options this is the ultimate 5e3. Win-Win.

Tube amp snob here. This pedal is sooo good! Love the sounds I can get from it. Not that it needs it but takes dirt pedals really well too. I still love my amp collection. You can throw this in a back pack with your guitar cables and go jam, open mic, live gig and sound great.

A Growly little Monster!

The UA Woodrow is a unique pedal in that it can clean up and sound nice with some added verbs but not like the Dream, and it can morph into a werewolf with snarly great tones but not like the Lion. Like I said it is a unique pedal and I love it! Another unique thing about the Woodrow is the Room knob. This subtle knob can change the way your tones sound in an ambiance sort of good way with just a little touch on the knob. I would buy this pedal again if I had to because you just can't replicate the tones it has any other way... Im sold!

Phenomenal

This pedal sounds phenomenal! It's such a great recreation of a tweed amp and has some cool additional sounds via the app. I am so impressed by these UA pedals that I rarely take an actual amp to gigs anymore.

Need for Tweed

I honestly thought my tone search was complete with Dream 65. Then this bad boy arrived. I know it's cliche, but I've never actually thought this of any gear before: THIS is the sound that was always in my head. This is how electric guitar is supposed to sound. The 65 now seems compressed and a bit too tame. I'm so thankful to UAfx for this option. It seems some are questioning their choice. I also don't think a lot of people will necessarily like it either. People keep talking about hard it is to dial in, which I don't understand. Right out of the box, factory settings, I was in heaven. I haven't pushed it yet to 'collapse in on itself' the way the real amps do. Not really a sound I'm looking for, preferring instead the articulate clean-edge of breakup sound. I probably never would have gotten an actual 55 tweed amp. But for just a sixth of the price, I get to participate in the glorious 5e3 experience you hear so much about.
